Daily movement helps keep you emotionally balanced as well as physically healthy. (10 points per practice).

Yoga

Even though yoga is gentle and calming, it is still a surprisingly challenging workout! Take your time and don’t worry if you can’t do every pose the first time. 

I like to work with a mirror nearby (in a yoga class the instructor would be helping everyone to find the correct poses).’

The first one is for ages 5-7. Some good introductory videos follow, with an intermediate level video at the end once you have more experience. 

After you’ve gotten down some of the basics (practice with the earlier videos till they are easy for you), you can try the one below, which moves through the poses more quickly and is quite a workout.

Please omit the headstand (this should be done only in-person with a qualified teacher.)

Dance & Barre

The flowing movements of dance are calming and promote body balance and awareness. These are enjoyable even if when you’re still figuring out the coordination and balance! Some tips as you get started: 

1)  The knee joint is designed to go forward and backward only. Keep it in line with your toes. 
2) The upper leg bone can rotate freely in all directions. All turnout is done from the hip joint.
3)  When balancing on your toes, keep your weight on the “pointer toe” side rather than the pinky side. 
4)  If the pace is too fast, remember you can use the controls to slow it down. 🙂

QiGong and Tai Chi

QiGong is an ancient Eastern healing wellness practice. The movements will leave you deeply relaxed and energized both physically and emotionally. Use them as a rejuvenating study or practice break (even a few minutes will help). 

This first video has lots of stretches and mobility exercises — great for releasing muscles and creating flow.

This video begins with the classic energy and vitality practices, then some specific exercises for the lungs and immune system. You will feel AMAZING afterwards. 

This routine is short enough to do anytime. In just ten minutes you will feel restored, energized and grounded.
